Today five years ago, I became a mommy!
Really, it just doesn't get too much better than that!
Today is my "mommyversary."
Adelynn Ruth came to us 13 days "late."
She was 8 lbs. 1 oz. of alert, fussy, cuteness with a full head of ringlets!
Seriously this is the only photo I have of her sleeping. :-)
Five years ago today, God so graciously gave us the PERFECT child to teach us every thing we need to know about being a mom and a dad the very first time around. I've often thought if we'd had one of our other ones first things would be far different in the way we approached parenting. Addie was such a fussy baby we had to learn skills, be challenged in our self-interest, and become more Christ-like just to survive.
Praise the Lord, we are beyond that, and she is such a lovely, thoughtful, and dependable girl. She battles her will every day, but every day chooses to love the things God loves... like obeying her parents and loving others!
Addie is/has started school... at home. She is just starting to read, loves books and can add small sums. She is quite the little mother, both for her siblings and also for her rapidly growing family (of dollies). She is faithful about feeding and caring for the chickens. She loves crafts and art of every kind.
I thank God every day for giving me the gracious gift of a daughter and a friend for the future. And I thank God she is a girl with conviction and resolve!
