San Diego

We recently had to go to California for Tim to be in a friend's wedding. It was nice because we planned a short family vacation to San Diego at the end of the trip. We got to go to the beach, Sea World and do some sight seeing. We discovered this amazing dessert restaurant that had the most beautiful desserts I have ever seen, they tasted wonderful too and we enjoyed some great sea food as well. It was just a great way to rest and prepare ourselves for the summer.

Mother's Day!

Red Raspberry Tea Discovery

I was told by my midwife to drink at least one cup of red raspberry leaf tea every day to help me during birth.  If you know me you know I love tea and would never complain about this. However, I found I really don't like this tea, it tastes like dirty water to me. I have dutifully choked it down for 2 months now.  The warmer weather inspired me to try to make it into some sun tea and ice it with sugar. This was really no better.  However, on further thinking I had the amazingly bright idea to add some oranges, fresh ginger slices to my recent batch.  OH MY! It is wonderful! I think I have had 3 glasses just today. It is like a summery fruit drink.  I have changed my mind...I love red raspberry tea!

The Bad Ol' Devil!

My daughter has kept me laughing lately.  For one thing, she is just so cute!  Then she says stuff that just makes it impossible to not bust up laughing.  Today we read the story about Jesus in the wilderness with Satan. We had to discuss who is Satan and how he is the opposite of God.  We had this theological discussion going on all day, she would say, "Satan, he is bad, right?" and "Jesus, he good, right?"  I told her, "Satan is evil, he likes to lie to us and trick us and trap us and make us disobey God. And Jesus he is always good and he wants to rescue and save us from Satan."  She seemed to just think about it all day. I wasn't sure she had really grasped any of it, because she would say, "Jesus is mean?" and seemed unsure of what we were saying.
Then tonight we went out to dinner with 2 of our summer camp staff. She turned to the girl with the most serious face and said, "Cassie, Satan, he is a very very bad snake! He wants to TRICK us and TRAP us!"  It was so funny in one moment because of how she said it, but so serious and amazing to me that she understood correctly that I nearly cried!

Happy Birthday Adelynn!

Our sweet girl is 3 years old today!!! I can hardly believe it. We did most of our celebrating yesterday. We (Tim, my parents, Elias, Addie and I) all loaded up in the car and headed to breakfast and the rec. center to swim. About 3 miles from the house Elias started throwing up! Uhg... so a change of plans... Tim took Adelynn swimming and we planned a small at home party. Addie was thrilled to get a trike for her birthday! Her legs aren't quite long enough to completely ride it right, but she sure tries! We are taking her for her favorite dinner tonight~Sushi! No really, she loves it! She is such a fun girl, still a bit intense at times, but very obedient, sweet, loving and compassionate. She is really learning to express herself, saying things like, "I have to go potty bad! I've had to go for 40 days and 40 nights!" Such a funny girl!!!
