Fellowship

For the past 3+ years we have been blessed to organize and host a fellowship group for people in our church. Mainly we are a group of families, but God has also blessed us with young couples and single individuals too. For the longest time we were all families with babies... now our children are growing and we have families joining us with older children. It all adds to making us better, more well rounded and wiser.

Initially we struggled to find a place that worked for us, but we ended up meeting at CBX and having 2 great girls (that live/work here) baby sit after our common meal during the Bible study portion of the night. As our children have grown many of the older children have started joining the study at times.

We've eaten together, learned together, sang together, played together, laughed together, cried together, prayed together, and seen many added to our number (mainly through birth or adoption). We get to enjoy the blessing of each others children, holding babies when we get the "itch" or holding a fussy one so another mommy can get a break. We get to know our friend's spouses, and how their families function. Our children get to take part in fellowship and friendship with like-minded peers. We get to share in each others struggles (infertility, loss of a spouse, unemployment, divorce, single parenting, family struggles, homeschooling, and just feeling lonely.) We get to bless each other with meals, showers, and just weekly getting to see each others faces. We get to be taught by each other and see other's spiritual gifts. We get to be held accountable to each other for one thing... every week, to show up. We get to be sharpened by working through problems and occasionally disagreeing... but really I can't remember a time.

We have approx. 15 adults and some where around 30 children... when we all show up... but that has only happened once. We have around 12 families that currently join us... and about another 10 that have come and gone in our group since it started. We have 2 faithful babysitters that deal with more than they should, but always come back with a smile on their face ready to love our children, even when they aren't really very love-able.

Thank God for community... it is hard, but SO worth it!
